ERP
ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) is the comprehensive information system of an organization which encompasses production, finance, accounting, supply chain, CRM, HRM (Human Resource Management), etc. Contrary to ealier trends, when each area used separate sub-applications, the ERP system is the predominate trend and covers the needs of an entire organization.
ERP systems integrate all data and processes of an organization into a unified whole. To achieve integration a typical ERP system uses a large number of software components (modules) and hardware infrastructure. A key ingredient of most ERP systems is the use of a unified database to store data. This database is then used by the various modules.
ERP systems attempt to cover the basic functions of the organization regardless the organization type or activities. Today, these systems are not only used by business corporations but also by non-profit organizations, NGOs, government institutions, and other large entities.
